Currently I have XP Pro installed across two SATA disks in a striped
array. I don't find that there is any noticeable performance
improvement with the striped array so I would like to move it to a
single disk. To do this I have a 3rd drive in the machine. Is there
some procedure that I can follow to move my XP install to the single
drive -- keep in mind that I need the RAID hardware drivers loaded to
access the striped array.
Once I have it moved I plan on using the SATA disks for data and
programs with the hope that three physical disks will provide better
performance than the striped array.

You could do this:
1. Connect the single disk.
2. Partition & format it, and make its primary partition active.
3. Run ntbackup.exe to back up the whole striped disk, including
the System State, to a file on the single disk.
4. Create the folder c:\Windows on the single disk.
5. Remove the striped disks.
6. Install a no-frills version of WinXP on the single disk. Make
sure it goes into a folder other than c:\Windows.
7. Use ntbackup to restore your previous installation.
