He's describing things being deleted which multi_av doesn't even touch.
Namely his favorites and desktop configuration; which indicate
corruption on the hard disk/file system prior to running multi_av.

In all fairness, his computer had more serious problems and he's likely
done more harm then good trying to repair them.

I must ask what was the contents of the Sophos log file -- C:\AV-CLS\Sophos\ScanReport.txt

I doubt you'll find the logfile very useful as far as deletion of his
favorites goes. I'm not familiar with many applications that purge your
favorites list without asking first. :)
