As I noted in my orignial post it is not critical for me now as I know
what the password is but at some point I may want to sell this machine
and I expect the new owner would like to not have to deal with this.

It's definately not a BIOS password.

If you're going to sell it, the best thing you can do is to wipe and
reinstall for the next user.
