Re: Norton Futility

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Has the trial version expired ? - if so, then it may still scan - but the
definitions will not be up to date so coverage will be lacking. If you
can use the web, go to Trend Micro's home page and run their on
line scan. Might also want to run their separate Spyware scanner.
If you haven't decided on a long term solution ( I recommend eTrust
from Computer Associates) download either AVG or Avast which
are both free, until you have a permanent choice.

Hi. I appear to have a virus and Norton Utilities can't deal with it.
Outlook Express e-mail is not coming in (I checked the server, and
they're fine) and I'm unable to open Word documents or shut down the
computer without hitting the power button.

The computer is a Compaq presario on Windown XP that came with a trial
run of Norton 2005.

When I try to get Norton to scan the computer for viruses, nothing
happens. It won't scan.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
