| Sorry Dave, as I said ALL data files were deleted that inclused the c:\AV-CLS
| folder.
|
| I did try a "restoration" execute, and found the C:\AV-CLS folder and all
| of the contents, but there was no ScanReport.txt file, presumably Sophos did
| not complete the write function.
|
| Fortunately most of my executable programs, and private data are on other
| logical and physical disks, so I lost very little. The main loss was the
| "Documents and Settings" folder and data, though I have managed to recover
| some from a backup, and others from "Restoration".
|
| My hardware structure consists of:
|
| Drive 1:
| C: - All systems and windows functionality, and any software that need to be
| in the "Program File" (Obviously this is considerable and I would hate to
| lose it)
| D: - All my executable software and instillation files
| E: - All long term data storage for keeping permentally
|
| Drive 2:
| F: - All short term data storage between sessions
|
| Drive 3:
| G: - WOrk areas that can be deleted after any session
|
| If I disable my D:, E:, F:, and G: drive and back up the "documents and
| settings" on the C: drive can I run Multi-AV. Is the worst that can happen,
| that I have to rebuild Windows and apply all the update for the last four
| years, or do I lose all the registry entries that associate my applications,
| with windows? And what happens to the "Programs File"?
|
| Or should I try a "Windows repair" first?
|
| What I really dread is having to reinstall all my working software, the last
| time I did that it took me over 60 hours.
|
| Any assistance would be appreciated

Well first let me state that I truly sorry YOU experienced such a dramatic effect subsequent
to my tool's use.

It is indicative of a PC either on the "edge" or badly infected. My Tool is certainly not
gered to take a PC over the edge nor cause puposeful corruption and/or damage.

I do realize that the concept of "Chaos and Comlpex System in a Computing Platform" is
always in play and you never know what cause and effect or action will cause chaos.

Kerry is correct and I concur in his conclusion that your *BEST* solution is to wipe the PC,
reinstall the OS from scratch and restore any data from backups. On some PCs malware can be
removed with little or no consequences. In your case you had a dramatic and catastrophic
consequence due to an unknown malware infection.

I also suggest NOT to partition your hard disk. If you have two or more physical hard disks
then separate the data on the one drive and the OS on another drive. This way if one drive
fails it does affect tyhe other drive and its contents. In a prtition scheme if the hard
disk fails, all partitions fail as well.
