Re: Where to see Administrator Account in XP Home

Hi,

WinXP Home doesn't do admin shares, see:

Thanks Rick and Drew. Now I can logon as Administrator... but is there anyway I can logon as another user (with admin priv) and access the Administrator account config?

Also,

How can I map an administrator share (i.e. net use z: \\hostname\c$) in XP Home? Being unable to do this, due to what I thought was a password miss-match, is why I started this thread to begin with. When I try to map the admin share (c$ - yes, the c drive is shared) I get a network path not found message? I can create a "normal" share and it works fine, unless I try to map it using the "Administrator" account, in which case it fails too.

This is all because of a network with mostly "pro" machines (xp and W2K) but a few "home" machines. the Home machines are acting differently when trying to map administrator shared drives.

Sorry, I'm just not experienced with the Home version.

Thanks,

-Frank

I am familiar with configuring the Administrator account in XP Pro (password, etc), but I cannot find how to do this in XP Home. Where can I find the Administrator account to configure the password?

When I attempt to logon with what I *think* is the proper password, on various machines (sometimes no password is set) I get a message that says "cannot log you on due to account restrictions". What's that?

Thanks,

-Frank
