That's odd - I don't see anything "illegal" in that file name. Dashes and
spaces are usually allowed. But, who knows if maybe that program is the
exception. Stranger things have happened. Maybe try sticking to 8
characters, and don't add an extension - let the program do that.

Re the name I tried to use, I don't recall exactly, but it was something
simple like "backup 5-3-06". I looked around on the Microsoft support
website today and found an article by Microsoft's Ed Bott called "Windows
XP
Backup Made Easy." I printed it and will try following those
instructions.
Maybe that will help me. Any other advice is welcome and appreciated.

I managed to install NT Backup from my XP CD. But, when I tried using

wizard, I entered a file name on the first screen, but got an error

Home Edition CD-ROM to start a wizard that installs Backup:
