Re: Cannot Log-off Admin Permanently

Sorry about that, I left out a step. After you remove the check
mark you need to hit the Apply button. Here's the corrected
procedure:

Go to Start -> Run and enter the following in the Open box.

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
Put a check mark in the box next to "Users must enter a
user name and password to use this computer".
In the "Users for this computer" box, click on your user
account so it is highlighted.
Go back and remove the check mark from the box next to "Users
must enter...".
Hit the Apply button.
The "Automatically Log On" box should pop up.
Make sure your user account is entered in the User name box.
If your account has a password, enter it twice. If your account
does not have a password, leave the boxes blank.
Click OK twice.
Reboot to see if you get the desired results.

Thanks for your suggestions, but I still have the following
problems:

1) For the first approach, the "Automatically Log On" box
failed to pop up after I removed the check mark from the box
next to "Users must enter...".

2) In the second case, I could not install TweakUI. Instead,
this error message was received, "The procedure entry point
GETDIIDirectoryW could not be located in the dynamic link
library KERNEL32.dll."

Please how do I permanently log-off the default

Thanks for the help.

An alternative approach is to download and install TweakUI
from Microsoft:

TweakUI
http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/c/a/fca6767b-9ed9-45a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

After installing TweakUI, go to Start -> Powertoys for
Windows XP and run the program.
Click on the + sign next to Logon.
Click on Autologon.
In the right hand pane, check "Logon
automatically at startup".
Enter your user name and password.
Click OK.
Reboot.

Good luck
