Not easy, but the first 5 characters of the Product ID ( not Key) match
the Disk designator found in the i386 file Setupp.Ini. This file contains
the
code that identifies the type of XP disk you are dealing with by the string
PID.
For example: An XP Professional OEM Disk has a PID = 55274OEM
Once installed the Product ID will begin with the 55274 string.
I don't know of a chart that fully lists all products, but you might be able
to decipher the original source type from the Product ID.

I know how to find if the OS is Pro or Home. What I want is a way to find
out
what type of installation has installed the OS. My meaning here is, was
the
OS installed with an XP OEM disk, An XP Retail Disk, An XP Corpotate Disk,
An
XP Action Pack Disk, An Xp upgrade Disk and so on. There has to be a
program
that will read this data from the Registry and let me know What OS to use
during a reinstall or a Repair Install.
This may not seem like a problem, but with the Genuine Advantage as it is
now, I would like to know if the XP Pro or Home that I am working on is a
OEM, Retail or Corp. This would save some time in the beginning because if
I
knew that the XP Pro on the POS system is a Corp. Copy then I wouldn't
have
to was time with the system and just advise the owner that his 4 year old
XP
Pro with SP1 is probably pirated and he will have to buy a new license
before
I continue.
