My PC refuses to log on (I'm on my notebook now). I have XP SP 2 When Itry
to log on it asks for my password I enter the password ,hit enter it says
its getting my settings screen flickers it says loogging off and then it
asks for the password again. I got in on safe mode and tried some previous
restore points . The restoration seemed to be fine but the log on did the
same thing. I suspect MS defender which I installed 2 days ago but I can't
get in to uninstall it. Where do I go from here? I appreciate any help you
can give . ( I do have admin priv.) Thanks
Bill
This usually happens when the system is unable to locate
userinit.exe. This could be because
- The system drive letter is incorrect, or
- The registry reference to userinit.exe is wrong, or
- Userinit.exe has been renamed, or
- Userinit.exe has incorrect NTFS permissions.
