Files and setiings transfer

I am trying to copy the files and setting of our office machine onto my
partners laptop to cover for mine which has just died....Bless Dell...

I have run FAST on both machines as Old computer and saved contents on
a large removable USB hard Drive..

I ran FAST on the new laptop with the data i wanted to access.....

Does it overwrite existing used settings ( no)

Some things have been added ( desktop and some directories) but how do
you access the new users...

XP books i have dont mention anything after the FAST run neither does
Fast it just does its thing?
