Flemming,
I'm running out of options here.
Surely looks like a thumbs.db problem.

Ramesh,
I did a mistake when answering your last question. I apoligize for that !
I do have a hidden "thumbs.db" file in the folders, but only in some
folders. When I delete the file in folders, where I have a preview of
thumbnails with pictures, all the pictures become standard thumbnails. In
the
folders where there is no "thumbs.db" file all the thumbnails are standard
type.
With this additional info, I hope you or someone else may be able to help.
Thanks.

There is no hidden file thumbs.db in the folders. I will not say that the
preview problem is intermittent, because if I work with the files in other
context as the one I described for you, the thumbnail may also disapear. I
have no records of when it happens. It is not related to certain folders
and
one folder may display thumbnail for some files and others not and I can
not
restore any of the missing thumbnails.
