Re: Run Command Line Missing

Thanks for all your assistance. I have checked all the paths that you
provided but the Run Command Line still doesn't appear. The "Remove Run menu
from start menu" was already set to Not configured. The NoRun value under
Curent user was already set to "0". I can live with the Windows key + the R
key to open Run, but it was driving me crazy not knowing why it won't show in
the start menu. What do you think changed this setting? Thanks, dot

Kelly's tweak affects
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\
NoRun

Also check...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer
For a NoRun value

0 = disabled. Run on the Start Menu
1 = enabled. Run NOT on the Start Menu

Run Missing From Start Menu

If you are using a stand alone computer...

Pressing the Windows key + the R key should open Run, unless the NoRun
policy is applied.

With the XP Start Menu...
Right click the Start button | Properties |
Start Menu tab | Customize button |
Advanced tab | Scroll down and check:
Run command | OK | Apply | OK

With the Classic Start Menu...
Right click the Start button | Properties |
Start Menu tab | Customize button |
Check: Display Run | OK | Apply | OK

If you have XP Pro and the above did not work...

Start | Run | Type: gpedit.msc | OK |

Navigate to >>
User Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Start Menu and Taskbar
Remove Run menu from Start Menu
Set to Not Configured.

Thanks for your speedy reply. I rebooted my PC after running Kellys
tweak. I also ran your suggested "run.vbs" and rebooted. Sorry but I
still do not have the Run command. Any other ideas? Thanks, dot

The Run Command is checked (Start

appear.

Note that you have to restart the computer after applying Kelly's
registry tweak.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

As a workaround, copy the lines between the dashed lines to the
clipboard and paste them into the text editor (Notepad):

===========================================================
dim objShell
set objShell = CreateObject("Shell.Application")
objShell.FileRun
set objShell = nothing

===========================================================

Save the file as "Run.vbs" and create a shortcut.
