Thanks to all for that.
Nokia now unticked in MSconfig.
Could not see any start up options in its own properties in the system tray.
GerryR what would you recommend, should I want to interface with the phone
in future?

Since foolishly loading a cd that came with a new phone, log on has been
slowed considerably by something that attaches itself to the task bar
only to say that 'Nokia pc sync...' is not connected.
There is no such programme in the start up folder, so where is it, and
how can I stop it from loading unless I actually want to use it?
