Hi,
I've recently had some problem with spyware (or a programme telling me
to install it so can get rid of spyware) but now everything is working
fine apart from 2 things.
1) go to open task manager and it says turned off by administrator but
cant work out how to turn it back on.
2) cant change desktop pictures, they're locked when i go to
properties/desktop.
telling me how to sort these out would be great cheers
For the Task Manager:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Taskmanager_error.htm - Task Manager has been
disabled by your administrator fix
Enable the Task Manager (Line 51)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Lift Restrictions - Task Manager, Regedit and CMD (Line 275)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
For the desktop pictures:
Go to the Display applet in Control Panel and look on the Desktop tab.
Click on Customize Desktop, and then click on the Web tab. You will see
that there are checkmarks next to "My Current Home Page" and probably
"Lock Desktop Items". Uncheck these.
If that doesn't do it for you, see:
If you can't enable desktop backgrounds after a virus, MVP Kelly Theriot
has a fix. Look under Wallpaper-Desktop-Disable Changing here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_w.htm
If Display tabs are missing, run Kelly's registry edit on line 285,
right-hand side "Restore all display tabs".
Also, a default wallpaper called wp.bmp may be set in
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System created by the
smitfraud.c virus. Remove that and you will be able to choose different
wallpapers.

"Don't Panic"
That's not a folder. It's in the registry. From start | run type in regedit. Click ok. Navigate to that key.
