It sounds like you are having the same issue that many are having with
getting Flash 8 to install on your machine. I would look at information on
the link that Carey has in his post. If those suggestions don't resolve the
problem don't feel left out. Macromedia has been working on this problem
for two months at least and have not found a solution. I spent around two
hours with one of their support engineers going through registry keys to see
if they all had the correct permissions one afternoon and didn't get Flash 8
to install. The install attempt from the web did what they are calling
"failed silently" and running the msi version of the installer we are
getting a 1904 error. Both Flash installs show in the Add and Remove
Programs but they don't play flash movies.
The machine that this problem exists on originally did not have any Flash
Player working on it. I decided to do a Windows XP repair install and that
made Flash 6 work but I still could not get Flash 8 to install. Some have
done a complete reinstall of XP and have been able to get the problem
corrected but I've not went that far!! Internet Explorer seems to be the
only browser that this problem exists with. We installed Firefox and then
got Flash 8 helper application to work with it.
Thanks

I appear not to have a flash player on my computer although when I look in
my
program files Macromedia 8 is listed. When I go onto a number of websites
instead of a picture I get a small white box in the top left hand corner
with
a triangle and a square in it.
When I go onto the macromedia website to try and download it it says I may
need to click on the gold bar at the top of the screen.. but instead of a
gold bar I get that stupid little box again!
Can anyone suggest how I can fix this? I'm desperate now, it's driving me
nuts!
Thanks,
Kate
