Make sure that USB devices are being recognized during the boot in BIOS. If
that doesn't work, try using a keyboard with a PS/2 conection, or a
different mouse. Otherwise, what was the problem that warranted an XP
reinstall?

My daughter recently had to reinstall Windows XP which then required her to
re download all the Windows Updates including Service Pack 2 .
After a few failed attempts the Service Pack download seemed to be
successful with the message on the screen saying it had installed
successfully and to restart the computer .
On restart on reaching the login page both the Mouse and Keyboard are frozen
and she can go no further .
I suggested starting in Safe mode but the same thing occurs there .
The keyboard is USB the Mouse is a basic Serial Mouse .
I feel that SP2 has probably not installed correctly but can think of no
way to access the computer now to uninstall it and try again .
I mention that Service Pack 2 was installed and running OK before the need
to Reinstall Windows .
Would be grateful for any ideas .
Graeme
