Re: Explorer sort order

Thanks for the reply , but it is not a use problem it is a sort problem.

I have clicked the column and the files are not in order.

The files and folders are mixed (they are not grouped), you do not see that
in any sort order normally.

Sort in Explorer

In details view, by default Windows Explorer displays files and folders in
ascending order.

To sort items using a different column..

In the Contents pane, click the category that contains the items that you
want to sort.

To sort items in ascending or descending order, click the column heading,
notice which way the arrow is pointing.

On the View menu, point to Arrange Icons by |
Name, Size, Type, or Modified.

How To Arrange Files Using Folder Views in Windows XP

TweakUI tip
From the View Menu, select "Choose Details" to select which file
properties
should be shown in the Explorer window. To sort by a file property, check
its name in the "Choose Details" in order to make that property available
in
the "Arrange Icons by" menu.

In news:dvcpi2$qds$1$8300dec7@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Barry Morris <nospam.barry_morris@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> hunted and pecked:
The files are selected to be sorted alphabetically but (grey column) but
they are not and the files and folders are mixed.

I tried a Google search, but unless I ask the question properly I may
never find the answer!

The PC has just recovered from a bout of ad-ware and virus attack, a few
internet explorer com objects needed re-registering to get activex to
work, so the problem could be associated.

TIA
