I just want to pass some info on to you all. I had chkdsk auto
running at start up and I came here seeking advice. Nothing worked
and my Mouse Cursor was also freezing up among other issues on a 7
month old system with all of the updates.
I did some further searching and was able to find a Great
Registry Cleaner, I paid $29.95 for it and downloaded the 4.5mb
file. I ran it, and it found like 300 registry problems, I
selected Fix em and then I defraged the registry. My problems are
GONE and my computer boots faster and the two programs I have ran
seem to run faster. I was all prepared to do a complete system
re-install. If you all don't have a Good Registry Fix Utility, I
would strongly suggest purchasing one and you may find yourself
posting less messages here. Good Luck

Hardly luck.. there are a couple of half decent free ones out
there.. the OP could have saved $30.. :-)
The "luck" I refer to is that:
A registry issue was the problem with the symptoms they provided.
I would call it "unlucky" they chose one that cost $30. *grin*
