I used a program called clean sweep to identify duplicate files on
my computer. It found over 4000. Most are XP files with one copy
stored in a directory called something like servicepack/386 and
the others in various other window directories including one
called dllcache.
Should these duplicate files be deleted and which one to delete?

I don't have those folder/files on my fully updated XP PC, so they
probably aren't needed unless you have installed a program that
requires them.
You should be able to tell by finding out what the exact
folder/file path to them is.
You should not remove c:\Windows\Driver Cache\i386 because it
contains driver files.
Whoa Whoa! Easy there.
DLLCACHE is important.. And the servicepack folder is as well - as it sort
of "supplements" the dllcache.
In short.. dllcache is where corrupted system files are replaced FROM.
If you don't know what you are deleting, you can seriously screw things up.
Look things up using Google or don't use such a program!
