Hi. . .I have a DVD burner that all-of-a-sudden decided to stop reading
media from within XP Pro (SP2). The drive is seen in the BIOS, Device
Manager, Windows Explorer and it recognizes media when inserted, but
cannot read it (0 bytes). However, when rebooting the PC and selecting
"boot from CD," the drive works fine (with XP setup disk).
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drive both physically and via -- not
Via -- Device Manager. Neither way seems to make a difference in its
ability to read within the Windows environment.
This behavior seems to have started with addition of a USB card reader,
but for the life of me I cannot figure out the correlation between the
two. Thanks.

you can try the suggestions listed on the following link and see if they
work.

Thank you for the link, but the box has Nero, not Roxio installed and I have
no error messages. Maybe an issue with Nero's InCD...?
