problem simply copying data files to a CD.....

I have Window XP pro edition. I want to back up finacial data (from
Quicken) to a CD Rom. I am pretty good with a PC, but not too good with
copying files to a CD.

I went to the HELP info available in the "Windows Help and Support
Center". Here's the exact text I followed:

"To copy files and folders to a CD
Insert a blank, writable CD into the CD recorder.
Open My Computer.
Click the files or folders you want to copy to the CD. To select more
than one file, hold down the CTRL key while you click the files you
want. Then, under File and Folder Tasks, click Copy this file, Copy
this folder, or Copy the selected items.
If the files are located in My Pictures, under Picture Tasks, click
Copy to CD or Copy all items to CD, and then skip to step 5.
In the Copy Items dialog box, click the CD recording drive, and then
click Copy"

The above instruction are easy for me to follow.

But, when I get to the last step shown above, I get Dialog Box titled
"Insert Disc", with the message: "Please insert a disk into drive D".

I have a new, *never used*, 700 mb CR-R in the D drive..I tried same
instructions with another identical CD-R. Exact message. It appears
that the softwares does not recognize the CD ROM is in the D drive. (I
have verified that my CD drive Is in fact, drive D).

What do I need to do next? Thanks!! : )
