Just right click on the desktop and choose properties, then hit 'w' then hit
'Enter'. This should give you the windws classic theme. Try it on an account
that displays properly first and you'll see what is supposed to happen.

I have a friend who adjusted his desktop display incorrectly to produce
a desktop where nothing can be seen but the icons once XP pro has
loaded (black/reverse video?). Unfortunately for him his restore
function was turned off when he did this. Even going into safemode into
the same account we get the same display qualities. Fortunately Safe
mode Administrator account displays properly. But right clicking on the
desktop in normal mode in his account we can tell WHERE the window is
to modify his display, we just can't select anything because it is all
black (like shooting in the dark).
Using F8 from startup, I tried 'VGA display mode" to start - with the
same results. As a (temporary?) work around, I created a new account
with administartor privileges for him and imported his email accounts
into Outlook there for him. Surely there must be a Command Line
Interpreter CLI fix that could be used to give my friend a stock XP
default normal display in his original account. Any ideas here folks?
