Asp.net's machine / again

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I had to reinstall a few weeks ago, and so reinstalled .NET framework
versions 1.1 and 2, and the Windows updates for them but, I still get the XP
Home ed. logon screen because of the Asp.net A...'S machine account that
someone suggested, (when I asked this a few days ago), would go away all by
itself after the .net frameworks' updates. It didn't !

I know that I can simply delete that account and both .net frameworks
remain in there for applications that need to make use of them, which is why
I installed them ! e.g. Norton Ghost 9 needs .net framework version 1.1,
and I understand that I won't get the logon screen again because I'll be
back to just one administrator account - mine - on a stand alone machine
but, I'm still not really clear on what the implications are, in simply
deleting the "Asp.net A...'s machine" account, specifically - going to
"User accounts" in Control Panel and deleting the account, should I retain
the directories and files that belong to the account, and have them saved
into folder on the desktop, as offered when threatening to delete the
account, or is there no reason to retain them ?

regards, Richard
