When I abort the task, I find the msiexec.exe is non-responding.
I guess that should not be surprising, since that is the Windows
Installer service.
Moreover, when I choose to send an error report to MS, even
that seems to get stuck in the "preparing error report" step.
At least, that step is check-marked. Perhaps it is stuck in the
next step, which is something like "connecting to server".
A network problem would make some sense to me. But I
hasten to note that I am using the network now on the same
computer, and I was using the network successfully while I
was stuck in the Windows Installer earlier.
Of course, it could simply be a problem on the remote side.
But I encountered the Java update problem every time I tried
-- several times during the past 3 days. And it seems like a
surprising coincidence to encounter an MS server problem
at the same time -- unless, of course, the Java update and
MS error report try to connect the same server. I doubt it!
Hi Joe:
Just a thought - - do you have a firewall that is preventing the Java
update from connecting to the internet?
Good luck,
