Re: standby not happening

On Wednesday 01 March 2006 08:01 am, too-old-for-this had this to say in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general:

i defragmented my hard drive yesterday, and now my pc won't go on standby
like it used to... i'm pretty sure no programs are running (at least, not
according to the taskbar)... power management is set to go standby after 5
minutes, and turn off the monitor and hard drive at the same time... it
worked fine until i did the defrag... suggestions?

Sorry, I have no idea how to fix your problem. But I was wondering why you'd
want to stress out your system like that by turning off the hard drive so
frequently?

"You might also want to try one of the numerous EXCELLENT
registry cleaners, and perhaps a ram washer."
