This newsgroup is continually deluged by posts that say ... "such and such
used to work and then all of a sudden it no longer works".
It is painfully obvious that XP is not a reliable operating system. Real
operating systems shouldn't just stop working as time rolls on. But with
XP, this indeed seems to be the case for more and more people.
Do you think Microsoft will eventually get this right with Fista? I ask
because I run Linux on a number of my machines and can honestly say that
they just keep on working. Never have any problems with things all of a
sudden stopping to work as they had been. Never have to boot up a machine
and find that all of a sudden it won't boot, or hangs while booting like
is
so common with XP. I think I read that with Fista there's going to be some
effort made to separate the kernal space from the user space which is the
way Linux runs. This might assist in the stability of the operating
system?
But, I'm not holding my breath that Microsoft is capable in its rush to
maximize profits that it'll produce an operating system anywhere near as
stable as Linux. Besides the well-known insecurity of XP, I have to think
that using the Registry for system configuration is a weak link in the
whole scheme of things. Fista will continue doing so which leads me again
to think that Fista will not overcome the stability problems we see with
Microsoft's operating systems.

"You might also want to try one of the numerous EXCELLENT
registry cleaners, and perhaps a ram washer."
hmmm I have to ask myself were these OS's stable when released to the
public ?
win95 ,win98 ,2000 ,XP ....add to the list
.
