On my system with roughly with 100 gigabytes used, the catalog is only 127
mb. I also had Yahoo Desktop search installed but it consumes 438 mb of
space for the Yahoo Desktop search catalogs and slowed down my system when
indexing, so I removed it.
It sure helps me performing advance searches.

Hello,
I'm searching some files on my hard drive, they should contain some
specific
words but I don't know how to make that search with the search tool in
which
it asks only one specific word in the space labeled "the file
contains:"
I tried to link the keywords with "+" or " or ";" or "," or "-"
but noway that doesn't work.
For advanced searches I use "Query the Catalog" in the Indexing Services
which can be located in the Computer Management console snap-in.
How to create and configure a catalog for indexing
