Re: formatting a Laptop to install IIS

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi,

Laptops are notorious for using hardware and supporting drivers that are not
found in retail versions of the operating system. Quite often these are
drivers needed for proper operation of things like the touchpad and even
chipsets on the motherboard. For a retail version to correctly operate the
system, you need proper supporting driver files direct from the
manufacturer. Which ones you would need would depend on the hardware used by
the manufacturer. It often helps to do an inplace upgrade to WinXP Pro
rather than perform a clean installation, this way drivers supplied with the
system are carried forward into the new installation.
