Changing the timeout to 0 just means that you aren't going to see the boot
menu.
The drive is using Fat 32?
You need a floppy boot disk.
Three files control the XP boot. ntldr, ntdetect.com, boot.ini
Start using the boot floppy.
Edit boot.ini
or delete the three files.

OK Miroku....unable to find Boot.ini
Try this Start-run Type msconfig then Hit Enter. This will bring System
Configuration Utility and in Boot.ini tab u can specify the Timeout as 0
so
that u will not get boot menu at the start up
Or
Right Click on My computer choose properties.Choose System tab and under
Startup and recovery clik setting . Here u can also specify the timeout
and
other settings related to Dafult opertaing System
Also try to study ur MSDOS.SYS file which is stored in root (May be
Hidden).
I hope this time U will get Sucess and Dont Forget to Post back ur reply

As a result of my efforts to install Win XP on a pluggable drive (to
start a
machine with a damaged operating system to recover work before rebuild)
using
my Win ME machine I have been left with a boot menu on the Win ME machine
which defaults to XP Pro setup, can anyone tell me where its coming from
and
either how to get rid of it or make it default to the Win ME startup.
Upgrading to XP on this machine is not an option as some devices fitted
won't work in XP
Many thanks in advance
