Re: Dual NIC setup

I've got an XP Pro machine that is connected to the home network
using a NIC card that is connected to my router. Although the pc has
an internal IP (192.168.1.5), it has full internet access through the
router.
I am thinking of adding another NIC card to this machine and
connecting that directly to the internet by way of the cable modem. This
NIC card would get an IP directly from the ISP eg 85.xx.xx.xx

How can I have it so that all internet traffic on this machine no
longer goes through the router, but rather goes through the second
NIC card that is connected directly to the net.

I would still need intranet access on this workstation.

You're trying to bypass the lock-outs built into the router, yes? So you can
get to the porn sites, no?

If you connect your PC directly to the internet - without a hardware
firewall - you are just begging, BEGGING, to have your whole installation
compromised by malware.

Your co-workers or family will kill you. You might die with an erection (not
a bad way to go, I might add), but die you will.
