You have to use the arrow keys to move the selection in the Advanced Options
menu.
3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys on your keyboard.
(NUM LOCK must be off before the arrow keys on the numeric keypad will
function.)

Frank McKee <fmckeesprint0@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> hunted and pecked:
Hi,
I am running Windows XP SP2 Home Edition and have a problem.
When I use the F8 key at bootup I get the Windows Advanced Options Menu
but the Start Windows Normally is highlighted and I can not get to Safe
Mode. In fact I can't even start windows normally and have to reset the
computer.
I can go into safe mode by using msconfig but of course that won't help
if I get a problem and can't boot my PC.
I ran the SFC scan to check all the system files.
Thanks for any help,
Frank
