Re: Where did the icon for my sound go?

Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware are good but they require you to update the latest file
definitions and perform your own scans. I've found the Microsoft AntiSpyware
utility to be just as effective and it's proactive, obtaining its own updates
and performing its own scans. This is still classified as a beta app but it's
very stable and still free. You can obtain the latest version (beta1) here (See
Popular Downloads):

Another proactive defense method is tweak the security settings in IE's browser
by populating the Restricted Sites Zone with listing of known offenders. See
this link for more info:

| I thank you for your reply but I went into my control panel and clicked on
| the sound link and was able to put the control back on my task bar.
| Now to answer your question: I have spybot, ad-ware, and my anti virus is
| the free version of AVG which updates every day.
| I was able to solve the problem of my sound icon missing from my task bar
| and also the internet link in the list of programs by doing a little
| investigating on my own but I have no idea what is causing these changes to
| happen to my system. I'm not new to computers since I've owned them for about
| 17 years now starting when DOS was used but neither am I knowledgable enough
| to know what's causing these problems or know what to do to fix them. I seem
| to panic when something strange happens.
| Thanks for your help.
