Good questions.
The zip archives range from somewhat under 1 GB (the one I've been using as
a test is about 0.85 GB) to a max of 1.6 GB.
I don't think it's an issue of they're being too large for FAT32 (isn't the
limit there something like 4 GB?) or the built-in XP Extraction Wizard
(right click, extract all). I don't get this problem when using a USB2.0
external HD, also FAT32 (nor on internal NTFS drives, which at least speaks
to the extraction utility as a problem). It seems to be something with the
Firewire connection (see other posts on this thread).
