Regarding the NETFX.MSI file, the 3rd link you posted tells me to "Obtain the original installation source. For example, if you installed the .NET Framework from CD or DVD, insert the disk. Or, if you downloaded the .NET Framework, download again and choose to save to disk."

I have no idea what disk this might have come from, if any. And if I need to download it, the person at that link does not say where to get it. Where can I download the NETFX.MSI file since it appears to be the problem, and how do I install it if the installation is not "normal"?

I am preparing my computer so I can successfully install Service Pack 2. I went to the Microsoft updates website and attempted to download 28 updates. 24 of them were successful downloaded and installed, but 2 of them failed during the download, and 2 others failed during installation.

The 2 that failed during download were:
1. Security Update for Windows XP (KB899591)
2. Update for Windows XP (KB910437)

I don't know if its critical that I download these, but anyone know what the problem might be?

The 2 updates that failed to install were:
1. Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
2. Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 Service Pack 3, English Version...(I don't have SP3 so I don't know why I needed this).

The messages I got while trying to install these were "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable...Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'NETFX.MSI'."

I searched for a file called "NETFX.MSI" and could not find one, so I clicked CANCEL.

That brought up the message that said "SL57.tmp-Common Language Runtime Debugging Services" at the top, and below it said "Application has generated an exception that could not be handled. Process id=0x124 (292), Thread id=0x1a4 (420)."

How do I correct this, or do I need to worry?
