Where's the checkbox for " Shortcut to "

Set up new XP PC and when I drag a shortcut D:\xp to the desktop it shows as: " Shortcut to D:\xp" . I don't want the words ' Shortcut to ' in front of each shortcut. I THOUGHT it was a checkbox in Explorer -Tools-Folder Options- View but not there. I tried XP Help but no reference.
