There is a Logical Disk Manager service and a Logical Disk Manager
Administrative Service service, there is no Disk Management Service that I
am aware of in XP. The Task Scheduler service has nothing to do with defrag
unless you want to schedule a defrag. None of these are required to be
running in order for defrag to work.
I have the Logical Disk Manager service, the Logical Disk Manager
Administrative Service service and the Task Scheduler service all disabled
and defrag works fine on my machine.
