it told you the boot sector was modified when you tried to boot
normally?
If it did, you might have to try and repair it again, or either plug it
back in as secondary and let it run chkdsk.
you can also run chkdsk from the recovery console with the switch
/f : Fixes errors on the disk. The disk must be locked. If chkdsk
cannot lock the drive, a message appears that asks you if you want to
check the drive the next time you restart the computer.
chkdsk /f from the recovery console.
I'm not sure that fixing the mbr was the best option in your case since
you never actually stated what type of boot error it was giving ...
after you ran the restore option.
Now it may be screwed.
