Forget about the idea.

I have played with a Xerox 432 and HP devices with HP JetDirect print servers.

DEven with those that are capable of network capable scanners it is more than difficult and
problematic. There is no TWAIN capabilities and the solutions suck.

The fact that this multifunction device is physically connected to the PC pretty much
negates network scanning.

It may help if you specifically state the manufacturer and model of the multifuction device.
