You can remove that unused icon through TweakUi.Down and install TweakUi. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
or,
Start>Run>Regedit>ok
Navigate to
Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current ControlSet\Control Panel>Cpls
Look in the right pane for an entry and delete
it.
