I do CONTROL ALT DEL to for Windows Task Manager,

The Green System Tray Icon showing CPU Usage does not always appear. I've tried and read all kinds of suggested fixes, and none of them work for any length of time and deleted the registry entries for icons. Using Scannow only temporarily fixes it too. Did MS ever come out with a fix? Can't seem to find anything recent about it in the knowledge base, etc.

We don't know what "tried and read all kinds of ..." means, so it is likely that responses will duplicate what you already tried.

Do you have the option in Task Manager to minimize to a tray icon?

Is the tray icon hidden and you have to use the chevron on the left side of the tray area to show the hidden icons? If so, customize the tray icon regarding which icons you want to always show, always hide, or hide when inactive.

Read Microsoft's KB article on how to delete items from the history list for the tray area (and clear the current list, too). Then start over with configuring which icons always show, always hide, or hide when inactive.
