Start
Run
Type "control folders" without the quotes
Hit enter
Click on the view tab
Set it to show hidden files and folders and to show protected operating
system files

Start by clicking in the C:\ drive in My Computer. Do you have a second
operating system (remnants of the first one) in there? In C:\Documents and
Settings\ are there some large bulky folders? That might be where your
missing space has run off to. That's where I'd at least start to look.
