You used WinXP's burning software, or software that was installed in WinXP?
If something like Nero, Roxio, or other burning software was in the previous
installation, you need to reinstall that software in order to finalize
(close) the CD. You may find after reinstalling it that you suddenly will be
able to read the disk, particularly if it was written in UDF format.
