I dont know about anyone else but there is one thing about the latest round of OSs from MS that really bugs me.
Earlier versions of Windows unabashedly took a long time to start up, but when the desktop appeared, you were ready to go. Nowadays, the desktop comes up in a flash and you're tempted to say "hey, Microsoft are making good on their promise of 'instant on'". Then you make your first tentative mouse click and sit back and wait.
I wonder if MS think all their users are idiots or only a few? Do they really think that a desktop that comes up in a flash but allows me to do nothing for a good few minutes is of any use to anyone?
Same goes for VS2005, but that's another story

How long do you mean? Turn it on, get a cup of coffee and the system should up up and running.
