| HI,
|
| I setup an xp PC yesterday, which connected to the web via ICS perfectly.
| Today I setup another PC again running xp, however I just cannot get on the
| web.
|
| I can ping the ICS PC, traceroute to any website i please as well as nslookup.
|
| However If I try to browse to a web page I get the DNS error page each time.
| I think I've seen this before on a fresh XP install but can't remember what
| the problem was.
|
| I've tried reinstalling my network card and running network setup wizard but
| to no avail.
|
| DO I even need to run the wizard? I thought it was enought to enter the ICS
| Pcs ip addy in the 2nd pcs gateway field, make sure its on the same subnet
| for ip and enter the dns servers.
|
| Pleasse help, confused.................
If you are connected to Broadband Internet then dump the idea of ICS. Instead get a
Cable/DSL Router such as the Linksys BEFSR41.
Such a device has many advantages including, but no limited to...
4 port 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet switch
DHCP server
Simplistic FireWall capabilities
Built in support of PPPoE
Share one Internet, WAN, address with upto 253 nodes.
With such a device you can even share a XBox or Playstation/2.
