Thanks for explaining about NAT routers. My particular NAT router is also a
residential gateway and an aDSL modem. It definitely has a hardware
firewall, which the user can configure if they have the password. I also
have a home network. The 2Wire device came from my DSL provider.
I guess you are saying that some NAT routers are just routers -- that they
do not also have a hardware firewall and/or that they do not also serve as a
residential gateway. I'm very glad that mine does all three functions and
that it has the firewall. Thanks again.
