System Restore does exactly what it is designed to do and nothing more.
System Restore keeps a backup copy of critical system files so that, should
you somehow damage them or alter them in a manner that you don't like, you
can those system files.
System Restore was NOT designed to backup or restore data or (most) program
files.
Microsoft Backup WAS designed to backup or restore data. Because MS Backup
does not backup to/from CD or DVD, many people prefer to use a third-party
utility, such as "BackUp My PC", located here:
