DVD-ROM Problem

I have two computers each with the ability to play DVDs. Tried to play "Lord
of The Rings: The Return of the King". When I notice that both my computers
had seperate problems.

I tried putting it on my old computer. It has XP SP2. The drive for DVDs is,
as stated on Device Manager, LITEON DVD-ROM LTD163D. The computer is about 3
years old. When I tried to put in the DVD's, the drive could not detct it. So
I decided to check it on my other computer

My other computer also has XP SP2. The drive for it TSSTcorp CD/DVDW
TS-H552U. It is under a year old. When I played it the menu came up, but no
sound could be produced. I check sound settings and everything seems to be in
Check. By the way, the speakers are C-Media Wave Device.

Please help!
