There is a difference between creating an Image and creating a restore
floppy.
Since the XP CD is bootable it is its own "restore" CD..........a floppy can
be created but it would not help without the CD drivers on it to access the
XP CD.
An Image on the other hand is like taking a snapshot of your HD or Partition
and as such requires 3rd party software...this capability was never included
in any version of MS operating systems.3rd party software that does this
usually also include the ability to "clone" a HD or partition.This clone
would basically be a bootable copy of your HD.In the event that your HD
fails or something on the HD makes it impossible to boot you would replace
that HD with the cloned drive and be up and running again.This clone would
include everything on the old drive...the OS,all programs that you installed
as well as all of your personal files.Of course it would need to be updates
regularly.
Acronis True Image is one of the better ones and at a reasonable cost
considering the altenatives.
