I'm not sure why the computer was givin to you to do the updates of SP1 to
SP2? This should have been done automaticly with windows update online. It
sounds to me by your description that the computer in question was originally
loaded with a bootleg pirate copy of Windows XP Home and a keygen program was
used to bypass the regestration and validation process prior to SP1 being
installed. Microsoft has devised a disable system to update from SP1 to SP2
on pirate bootleg installations. I think you will have to purchase a geniune
CD with valid CD Key of Windows XP Home and reload from scratch.
